To apply for a Study Permit, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled into a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and hold an acceptance letter from the institute.
  • Be able to prove that they have significant financial support to be able to pay for their schooling and living expenses while a student at the institution.
  • Must be a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record and not be a risk to the security of Canada.
  • Must be in good health and willing to complete a medical examination.

For an expedited processing under the Student Direct Stream (SDS), candidates must:

  • Be enrolled into a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and hold an acceptance letter from the institute.
  • Have a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAN$10,000
  • Provide proof of payment of tuition fees for the first year of study
  • Meet minimum language requirements of CLB 6 for IELTS for English or TEF CLB 7 for French.
  • Must be a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record and not be a risk to security of Canada.
  • Must be in good health and willing to complete a medical examination.

The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is an open-work permit that allows international graduates to gain professional work experience with any Canadian employer and helps them further apply for Canadian immigration. The validity of the PGWP is up to the length of their Canadian educational program.
